The L & N Train Station was constructed in 1901, and was one of the busiest sites in Clarksville,
but now only freight cars pass by the station. When passenger train service was discontinued in
1966, the station was closed, and left to ruin.
In 1995, Montgomery County Bicentennial Committee began a $400,000 restoration project, and
the station was saved. L & N Train Station is now home to Montgomery County Historical
Society, which oversees its operation.
A small museum at the station houses an authentic engine and caboose. The stationmaster's
office boasts many authentic furnishings, including the original manager's desk and the
scheduling board.
The station may be rented for meetings and receptions, and tours are available.
The station museum is open 9:00AM until 1:00PM on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, with a
Farmers Market operating seasonally. For more information, call 931-553-2486.
